Cornish Printmaking Workshops by the Sea: Woodcut or Lino
Come and try your hand at woodcuts or lino cuts in our Watchtower Studio overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the cliffs of West Penwith. No experience is necessary and all tools and materials are included in the price. I offer individual tuition, couples tuition and small group sessions for up to three people. Sessions are friendly and relaxed, and encourage you to express your creativity in whatever way you wish, from simple markmaking to detailed figurative work. Each workshop is tailored to the skill levels and aspirations of the participants, so you can design your own day to suit you.

One-to-One Printmaking Workshop: £95
Group Printmaking Workshop (max 3 people): £65 per person
What to expect:
These one-day courses will enable you to plan, cut and print your own 8 x 8 inch woodcut or linocut. The day will start off in the Watchtower Studio, with its panoramic views of the sea, fields and moors to inspire your creativity – there you will learn how to use the tools safely, how to sharpen them, and design and cut your print using Japanese woodcut chisels. After lunch we will move to the print room and you will learn how to handle inks cleanly and how to ensure a crisp print by texturing your ink correctly and inking up your woodcut cleanly. The print room is equipped with a hand-built A1 intaglio press, a range of water-based inks and Japanese printmaking papers. You will print your work using the press and have a few prints to take away with you (they may still be tacky, so you may have to lay them on the back seat of your car on the way home!).Please bring a packed lunch and wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting inky (unlikely but possible). Aprons, gloves, tea and coffee provided. If you prefer specialist drinks, please bring your own tea bags etc! Please park off the road in front of the garage.
